November 20, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

There are an incredible number of Christmas gifts that are great for your children this year. Christmas 2008 is looming, so it’s important to make your choices now.

First up are the robotic toys. Every child loves robotic toys because they are like real life pets! Furreal Friends Biscuit is a really neat toy dog that is just like a real dog. He has tons of sensors to make him life-like and respond to your child. He even responds to voice commands like sit and raise paw.

Another robotic toy is the Spike the Ultra Dino. He is super-fun and really roars, throws boulders, and more! Your little one will adore playing with Spike.

Moving on to gifts for girls! The Petal Cottage is a must-have because it offers the chance for your little one to have imaginative play with this old fashioned playhouse.

If you have a baby you’ll love the Busy Ball Popper toy. It has a plastic tube where colorful balls flow through and POP up into the air. This is a great toy to stimulate the development for your baby into his toddler years.

Last but not least is a toy that is perfect for your little boy or girl. The Fisher Price Smart Cycle is one that really can’t be beat. It’s an exercise bike, video game, and learning toy all in one.

These toys are absolutely perfect for Christmas 2008. You’re sure to get lots of delighted squeals in your home!

KitchenAid Mixers Which is For you!

November 14, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

The KitchenAid Stand Mixer Series has been around for several years. I know that I love mine dearly and would not be able to mix some of my recipes. Even with my KitchenAid some of the mixes are very hard for it and has to be done by hand. Mixing by hand can be extremely time consuming and difficult to do because they are so thick. However, the end result is always a great tasting dish that my family loves! However, which mixer will be right for you because I know that quite a few are available. So I will give a quick overview of the two that I know are available and might work best for you.

The first one that I wanted to go over is the KitchenAid Professional Series mixer. This mixer is the best that money can buy in my opinion. However, it does have some drawbacks, one of which is the amount of electric that it uses. The mixing bowl can also be a little bulky for some kitchens. But one of the main pluses is that it can go thru almost any mix that you can throw at it. Which makes it nice because even your grandmothers Brownie Recipe!

The next mixer that I want to go over is the same one that I own. It has never given me any problems other than it does not like some of my thicker recipes do seem to give it problems. However, I have owned this mixer for four years now and never had a problem with it other than that. The attachments for it are reasonably priced and easy to find either at stores or online.

I would highly recommend either one of these two products. They both allow you to utilize the mixer for more than just mixing, but you can also only use it for mixing if you want. However, the prices can be daunting if you bought some of the other brands like I did before you will regret it. I had nothing but issues from my other mixers, but never had a problem with the KitchenAid Stand Mixer Professional Series or Artisan Series. If you would like more information on the Professional Series click here, or the Artisan Series click here.

Portable Ice Maker for a big family

November 14, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Every time we have family gathering at grandparents’ house we always run into the same problem - ice maker in their freezer quits giving ice on the first night. Actually, solving the problem was easy - they got a portable ice maker that they run only during crazy family holidays when they have over 10 people staying at the house.

What is so great about a portable ice maker? Let’s go over several very important features.

It can be installed underneath a counter! Or in garage, or on top of the counter, or hang it somewhere - the choice is yours.

Besides cubes or crushed ice it has the ability to make ice flakes and nuggets. Some models can produce up to 250 pounds of ice per day.

Some of Ice makers can be hooked up to a water supply line to free you from constant water refilling.

Also, it would be a good idea to get an ice maker with water filter in it, just to make sure of the best water quality.

And last but not least option is self-cleaning that will automatically run cleaning solution through the unit.

Just to mention that large family can save a fortune when quit buying ice at a grocery store and start using an ice machine.

Food savers

November 12, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Food savers or sealers are designed to keep your grocery items fresh for much longer than other storage methods. The best savers so far are Vacuum Sealers that come with custom fitted bags.

It is very important that your food saver has crush-free seal option. In case you want to seal a piece of cake, crush-free seal will keep the cake in its original form.

It became very easy to use food savers and sealer since they have easy-touch buttons and panels, especially when you bag heavy meats and vegetables. There are options for dry and moist food, custom sized bags, canisters, and jars.

One of the great features of sealing food is that it will stay frost-free in your freezer. You will notice your defrosted stake tastes better after being sealed in your freezer for a month than a stake being frozen for couple days in original packaging.

If you reuse FoodSaver bags here is a great tip - place food in a Ziploc bag, press the air out of it, and then put it into the FoodSaver bag and seal it.

For sealing soups and stews it is best to use jars though be careful placing them into the freezer, they do brake easily and they take a lot of space in the freezer.

Accessorizing Using the Internet

November 11, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

by Beverly Clarke

Accessories add immense visual value to your home without your having to spend a fortune. A few changes in your home decor could change the entire look of your home and make it a much more exciting place in which to live.

With the advent of technology it has become possible to buy home decor items online. We can order furnishings and accessories from the confines of our home and have the items shipped to our doorstep. There is also a much wider variety of options available in online stores as compared to their brick-and-mortar counterparts. The prices are usually much lower as well, due to the decreased overhead costs incurred by the online seller.

The catalogues of accessory manufacturers tend to be extremely large so that brick and mortar stores do not have nearly the space to display everything.  Online stores can either have a link to the manufacturer’s website or in some cases, may display the entire collection on their own site. During a search for accessories for your home, having the ability to print out pictures of your possible selections, makes the entire process easier. You can bring these pictures into the room for which the item is being considered making it easy to assess if it is, in fact, the right piece.

Virtually any type of accessory can be found online including lamps, pictures, mirrors, tabletop items such as bowls, boxes, sculpture and floral arrangements. Within each of these categories, you can get as specific as you’d like when doing a search, such as materials, decorating genre, country of origin and price range.

Most accessory items can be delivered via UPS or similar services and tend to have minimal shipping charges. However, in the case of oversized items, such as framed artwork and mirrors, floor lamps and artificial trees, expect to pay somewhat of a premium for shipping, as those will need to be delivered by an independent trucking service.

Be sure to check out the online store’s rating with the Better Business Bureau so that you can feel confident that you are making your purchase through a reputable dealer. Also be sure to get a printable order acknowledgement and receipt for your payment.  Because items will be shipped directly to your home, you will be required to pay for the item in full at the time you place your order.  Be sure to read the conditions of sale before you sign it, being sure you have a firm understanding of the terms of the transaction, which avoids conflict after the order is placed.
